BE SAFE OUT DOORS
PART II
AVOID INSECT AND ANIMAL BITES
To avoid insect and animal bites. Use insect repellent preparations preferably one containing DEET and cover arms and legs when advised or if you notice that there are too many insects around or biting you.
Animal bites can set up infections which can be serious and sometimes fatal. BE WARY OF EVEN APPARENTLY TAME ANIMALS.
If you go aboard and there is a lot of mosquitoes or biting insects try to make sure your legsare covered after sunset. Sleep in properly screened rooms and employ a knockdown spray to kill mosquitoes in the room. Use a mosqioto net around the bed at night, preferably one that is impregnated with an insecticide. You should make sure that there are no holes in it and that it is well tucked in.
While these are good preventive methods you are still not one hundred percent safe so if you develop a fever, or feel ill, seek medical attention as soon as possible.
If you get ill when you are back in your country make sure to tell the doctor that you were aboard and if you know there was malaria or some other disease present in the country then let him know.
REMEMBER: PREVENTION IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN CURE BUT IF CURE IS NECESSARY THE FACTS MUST BE GIVEN TO THE DOCTOR.
