Delanie Paulina Sutherland Eclips, wins Duet Category

Yesterday I posted on Delanie's Soloist Performance and today I am proud to tell you she also won 1st in the Duet Category

and 2nd in the Overall National Championship!

This was the first time that Delanie danced with her partner and their success was just wonderful! 

The future for this little dancer is carved in GOLD!

It must be the dream of every Belizean to see their child be great at something! We always want what is best for them! We always want them to achieve some form of greatness! Mel Sutherland Eclips and her husband, Alan Eclipse are two such parents who are proud of their daughter, Delanie Paulina who just turned nine and has once again won in her dance competition!

Delanie began dancing when she was 3 1/2 years old!

Delanie is a proud member of Studio One Southwest Dance Academy. She takes 14hrs of dance a week from ballet to hip hop. Her solo teacher is Meghan Hoover. Delanie started competition dancing at age 5!!!

In her mom's own words... "Dancing challenges her and brings out a passion and determination that's hard to explain! She is really a great kid all around and is quiet and mature for her age. She is an old soul. That is what I tell her. When she goes on stage a fire takes over. It's like she comes to life and tranforms in front of me :)!  Dance has done a lot for her in terms of building responsibility to follow up her practicing and creating self confidence in herself. Children these days need some avenues to help them focus on positive things to  stay out of trouble!

In this competition, Delanie danced to "Amazing Grace"! She got 1st Place in Category and 3rd Place in Overall Star Power Champion!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS, DELANIE PAULINA SUTHERLAND ELCIPS!!! YOU MAKE US PROUD AS BELIZEANS!!!

THE THEME FOR THIS YEAR'S SEPTEMBER CELEBRATIONS IN BELIZE

JULY IS HOLIDAY TIME IN BELIZE BUT IN BELIZE ITS A HOLIDAY EVERYTIME FAMILIES SPEND TIME TOGETHER!!!

Even though these pictures were taken in April and May you can bet your bottom dollar this is what many Belizean children and their parents will be doing during the summer vacations in Belize!!!!

Meet Gustavito Ellis! This handsome little fellow lives in San Pedro A.C. in Belize and he loves swimming! When he cannot drive to the natural oceanic area of his island, he sits back and splashes in his swimming pool on his verandah!

Gustavito's mom, Angie Ellis is a lover of hammocks! When she lid in Corozal she would spend many hours in the evening sitting in her hammock on her verandah! When she moved to the island she got more hammocks and now on her new verandah she enjoys the cool Caribbean island in Belize with her friends, Mrs. Martha and Dulce!

 Spending time with friends and swaying in a hammock is definitely a cool way to enjoy the summer vacations or any time of the year in Belize!!

Parents play a huge part in their children's life in Belize! Here we see Angelo with his mom and dad enjoying that day as they cooled off!

I stole this picture from my friend Valeria Boyraci so I would show you how family time with children is never dull in Belize! This was kite season in March around Child Simulation Week, I think! Just another proof that parents are very involved in their children as they develop!

Later this month I hope to have pictures of children enjoying this summer in Belize!

The Creativity of a Class comes with the guidance of a good teacher

The students of the Corozal Community College blended an English class experience with their Biology class and wrote their very own newspaper articles on their Biology subject...THE EYE!! Their teacher, Mrs Zerlina Verde had a hard time to choose the winner of this project and it is no wonder! As a retired English teacher, I found all entries to be unique and decided against judging these papers!

This is just one reason living in Corozal Town is a plus for those with children of high school, junior college and university levels!

Corozal Town has all three levels of education available for its young people and they are known for excelling at national and Caribbean levels!
